AHPA responds to National Aged Care Alliance Survey
To inform a discussion paper, the National Aged Care Alliance has asked its members to comment on the effectiveness of the aged care reform process to date. AHPA’s submission gives a comprehensive update on the current state of allied health in aged care and documents our experience of implementation of changes to aged care legislation and policy.
The submission discusses significant flaws in the draft Aged Care Rules concerning the Support at Home and residential aged care service lists, and outlines the practical effects for allied health of Australian Government commitment to 100% funding of clinical care.
There is also much work still to be done to genuinely embed reablement and multidisciplinary team care into the new system, including making sure that providers that actually achieve this in reality so that older people can be confident that their allied health needs will be met comprehensively and fairly.
