Do you have your HPI-I number yet?

Your Healthcare Provider Identifier – Individual (HPI-I) identifies you as a health professional when digitally accessing and documenting consumers' health information. It's the key that unlocks your ability to use core digital health tools to securely exchange information.

Are you an Ahpra registered provider? You already have an HPI-I. Find out where to locate it and how to start using it.

Not Ahpra registered? You can get an HPI-I directly through Services Australia, or via a new bulk-upload process now offered through professional bodies including the Australian Counselling Association and Human Genetics Society of Australasia.

More pathology and diagnostic imaging reports now shared via My Health Record

Share by Default became mandatory on 1 July 2026. From this date, some healthcare provider organisations are required to upload pathology and diagnostic imaging reports (not the images themselves) directly to My Health Record.

In practice, this means more of these reports will be visible in My Health Record, supporting continuity of care where patients see multiple providers.

The Australian Digital Health Agency has developed a short interactive tool to help you find out whether your organisation is in scope.

National Framework for Digital Health Standards released

The Australian Digital Health Agency has released the National Framework for Digital Health Standards. Simultaneously, Release 3 of the Australian Core Data for Interoperability (AUCDI) has been published on the Sparked website. Together, they standardise how health data is captured, structured, and exchanged – tackling the fragmentation across Australia's health data systems and supporting safer, better-informed care.
