Allied Health Representation on Committees

One of AHPA's key priorities is to ensure that the voice of allied health professionals  is heard on issues affecting healthcare in Australia.  Allied health professionals represent 20% of the country's health care workforce, a sizeable sector of the industry. Most Australians are treated by an allied health professional at some stage and, with the increasing incidence of chronic disease, this will grow.

AHPA is now approached frequently to provide an allied health representative on a number of external committees and we believe it is important to ensure that we can fulfil this role.

Below is a list of some of the external committees, reaching across a broad range of issues, that have allied health representation.

  • Medical Benefits Review Task Group's Diagnostic Imaging Review Committee
  • NEHTA Clinical Leads Group
  • PCEHR  - Personally Controlled Electronic Health Record
  • NEHTA: Primary & Ambulatory Reference Group on Healthcare Identifiers
  • MEDICARE - HPOS Committee
  • HWA Advisory Committee for Health Professionals
  • AGPN Medicare Local Transition Marketing Sub Committee
  • Australian Healthcare Reform Alliance (AHCRA)
  • Standards Australia IT 14 Committee
  • HWA Simulated Learning Environment Expert Reference Group
